Sammy Watkins agrees to new deal with Chiefs

Sammy Watkins has taken a pay cut.

Early Friday morning, Terez Paylor broke the news on twitter.

Speculation had been swirling for months on what would happen with Watkins and his then $21 million cap hit, and now there is finally an answer.

The move also clears some much needed cap space for the Chiefs, as they had previously sat under $200 in space.

With both Watkins and Demarcus Robinson back on new deals, it is clear the Chiefs feel they can run it back with the same group as they try to repeat as Super Bowl champions.

Attention will now turn towards a potential Chris Jones extension and the NFL Draft, set to begin in a few short weeks.
