NFL players could be tested every three days for virus

As we inch closer and closer to the beginning of the regular season, the NFL will begin to implement plans to test for COVID-19, and subsequently plan a response for positive tests.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the NFLPA plan is to test as often as every three days, and any player who tested positive would be isolated immediately. Medical director Thom Mayer is confident that such testing would be available in the coming weeks.

This news comes on the same day that multiple Cowboys and Texans tested positive for the coronavirus, including star RB Ezekiel Elliot.

The positives tests are struck fear into some around the league, including one coach who says the league should delay the start of the season. The NFL has already discussed cutting the preseason in half.

If the NFL wishes to have any kind of normalcy this season, regular testing and isolating those who test positive are key to prevent the NFL from becoming a hot spot for COVID-19.
