Mahomes, Chiefs staying ready despite uncertainty

While the coronavirus pandemic has thrown a wrench into the NFL offseason, the Chiefs are remaining ready for anything.

In a recent interview with reporters, Mahomes said he is still able to get his work in even with the odd circumstances.

“I feel like I’ve been staying in pretty great shape,” Mahomes said Wednesday in a Zoom video conference with reporters. “I’ve been throwing with guys, I’ve been working out with guys and doing whatever I can to stay ready, knowing we’re missing these OTAs and minicamps. I’m excited to get back with those guys and get back working and being ready as soon as possible. The season will come quick.”

With an MVP and a Super Bowl MVP already under his belt, Mahomes is aiming to lead the Chiefs to a dynasty.

Andy Reid also spoke about how the team is able to continue to prepare for the season while not physically being together.

“We haven’t slowed down a lick.”

The Chiefs will have to conduct training camp at the team practice facility, which they have not done since 1990.

With no date set for training camp and the potential for a shortened preseason, the beginning of the 2020 season will likely be different than anything we have seen before. Even so, the Chiefs appear just as set in their goals to repeat as Super Bowl champions.
