Will the Chiefs make a trade before training camp?

The Miami Dolphins recently acquired Melvin Ingram after the Chiefs used a UFA tender on him. Does this signing force KC to go out and trade for a DE before training camp?

The Chiefs will not make a trade before training camp because they would have done so early in the off-season. Even though Melvin Ingram signed with the Dolphins last week, I think this proves that the Chiefs are comfortable with having Karlaftis start opposite of Frank Clark. With the high motor Karlaftis has, he should be able to contribute early. Karlaftis will be mentored throughout the season by the veterans and he’ll be helped by lining up next to Chris Jones every down. If the Chiefs wanted to trade for a defensive end, it would have been for Jacksonville’s Josh Allen who the Jaguars expressed they would not trade this off-season.

Many believe the Chiefs will make a blockbuster trade before the camp because they do not feel the Chiefs have that much confidence going into next season with one of the youngest defenses in the league. I believe if the Chiefs do try to add anyone, it would be a veteran defensive end who will be able to rotate with Karlaftis.

If they bring in anyone, expect them to sign Alex Okafor back or look to bring in former Commanders and Eagle defensive end Ryan Kerrigan. Both pass rushers would be a solid pickup due to experience and having depth on that defensive. It is clear KC is not spending big on guys over 30, and those two are not expecting a nice payday from any team. I believe all Chiefs fans are somewhat satisfied with the draft picks acquired this year and any additions to the team will be welcomed because it would be added depth needed for most positions on the defensive side.
