Trade Rumors From Around the League

With an incredible offseason underway, what trade rumors are going around the NFL?

After possibly the most incredible offseason of all time, there are STILL a few moves that could be made before the draft. After the litany of moves made by some of the league’s most aggressive GMs, some teams are still scrambling to not be outmaneuvered before this offseason comes to a close. With all this offseason movement it can be tough to keep up, so here are some of the most important players being targeted by NFL GMs before the 2022 NFL Draft.

James Bradberry- CB NYG

James Bradberry has caught the eye of many GMs as either a short-term or long-term veteran CB option. Given that it is the final year of his contract, and that the Giants are in a bad cap situation, Bradberry has become a clear trade/cut option for New York. Bradberry has played as a mid-level corner for his entire 6-year stint in the NFL and would provide any team with solid CB play as their new #2 or #3. The new team acquiring him would take on nearly $12 mil in cap (which could cause the NYG to outright cut him if they do not find a suiter). Compensation has been reported to be anywhere from a 3rd to a 7th round pick and the teams that have been reported to be interested in him include the Chiefs, Raiders, and Jets.

Brandin Cooks- WR HOU

Cooks is coming off his 6th 1000 yard receiving season and is in the final year of his 5yr/$81 mil contract, carrying a $16.2 mil cap hit. This stud WR could be on the move though, as the rebuilding Texans are unlikely to extend him and would love to load up on draft picks in a deep WR draft class. Teams would likely have to give up at least a third-round pick and would most certainly have to sign him to a new deal shortly after trading for him. Interested teams include the Chiefs, Packers, Colts, and Eagles.

Chris Carson- RB SEA

After an outstanding 2 year stretch in Seattle (2018-2019), Chris Carson could be on the move. The Seahawks made it a priority this offseason to resign Rashaad Penny, who made a huge impact late in the season for them. This likely puts them in a position to move the veteran RB, especially when you consider his $6 mil cap hit this season. Compensation would almost certainly include a 5th-7th round selection and interested teams include the Panthers, Saints, Dolphins, and Jets.

Jimmy Garoppolo- QB SAN

This Super Bowl quarterback will almost certainly be on the move after the most recent quotes made by his current head coach, indicating that Trey Lance will be their starter moving forward. This move was not exactly surprising for anyone familiar with 49ers football, but it still places them in a weird position with Jimmy G. It is clear that he is not the future of the 49ers and it will be hard for him to continue to be in San Francisco. Jimmy carries a $26 mil cap hit this season and is someone the 9ers will want to trade sooner rather than later. Compensation for the veteran QB could be anywhere from a 3rd to a 5th round pick in the 2022 draft and interested teams include the Panthers, Texans, Seahawks, and Eagles.
