The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off their eighth straight win against the Pisttsburgh Steelers putting up 36 points in a dominating fashion. After this most recent blowout win, experts and fans are wondering is the Chiefs offense finally back?
After another remarkable offensive performance, many people are wondering if this Kansas City offense is back on track. Patrick Mahomes was able to throw for 258 yards and throw 3 touchdowns with no interceptions having a clean performance without his top TE Travis Kelce and limited targets for Tyreek Hill. Although the Steelers are having an upside-down year, they still have one of the toughest defenses in the league.
TJ Watt had a silent outing and the offensive line once again was able to give Mahomes enough time in the pocket to work and make Mahomes magic. With Kelce out and Hill being limited, we were able to see guys like Byron Pringle shine and have a big day totaling 6 catches for 75 yards and recorded two touchdowns. Also, we were able to see more of the young RB Derrick Gore who never fails to excite fans and continue to prove why he needs more touches in this offense. With the burst he has and the vision he possesses, Gore will get more snaps as Clyde sits out these next weeks due to a shoulder injury. What does this mean for the offense going forward?
I expect this offense to go into January red hot putting up numbers we are used to them putting up. With the offense beginning to adapt to the short-yardage game and letting the offense open up from there, the opposing defense will once again have to go to the drawing board and figure out how to slow down this explosive offense. The main source of the issue was wide receivers dropping passes and those tipped passes turning into interceptions.
After limiting those dropped and tipped passes this unit has been one of the best with YAC which has taken a toll on defenses these past weeks. In these upcoming weeks, the Chiefs have a chance to close out the season undefeated after a Bye and secure a No. 1 Seed with a Bye heading into the playoffs. This offense will rise up to the challenge and continue to put up amazing numbers showing they are officially back and ready to cause havoc in the playoffs. My predictions for this offense is to average around 26.5 PPG and Mahomes will average 3 touchdowns a game from here on out. After all the statements saying that the Chiefs offense has been figured out and Mahomes has been figured out, it’s safe to say the haters were wrong and this offense is out to prove everyone wrong including the “experts” that doubted them after the rough start this year.
