The three best deadline deals from around the league

With the trade deadline come and gone which three trades are going to have the most impact going forward?

3. 49ers acquire Charles Omenihu from the Texans

The 49ers have had a lot of issues on the defensive side of the ball this season, mainly they have not had a consistent pass rush. Nick Bosa has been excellent but is still somewhat coming back from his ACL tear from last season. The Niners have a lot of great talent on the defensive side of the football and this could really make them more competitive as they try to get back to being a contender next season. This is more of a future-proof move for the Niners and it’s a low-risk-high reward move for them.

The Texans didn’t need to make this move, but they’re one of the teams in contention for getting the first overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft and this was a move that really couldn’t hurt them and they get a draft pick.

2. Chiefs acquire Melvin Ingram III from the Steelers

This is a great pickup and a smart move by the Chiefs and it could not have happened at a more opportune time for them. Melvin Ingram was the odd man out in the Steelers pass rush rotation and had not seen the field in the past three games as much as he did earlier in the season. Ingram needed to find a new home and Kansas City was able to oblige.

This is a win-win for both teams, the Chiefs are finally able to get a pass rusher who is the consistent opposite of Frank Clark and it moves Chris Jones back inside, the Steelers get another draft pick. This is a great move for Kansas City as the defense has been playing better each of the past three weeks. This should be a nice piece to have as the Chiefs move forward and try to salvage their season.

  1. The Rams acquire Von Miller from the Broncos

This was the biggest surprise at the trade deadline by far. No one really thought Von Miller was going to be traded at the deadline, most people thought he would find a new home in the 2022 offseason. His trade to the Rams came out of nowhere and it is a great move for both teams.

The Broncos are able to move Von Miller and get some really nice draft picks in return, a 2nd and a 3rd in the 2022 NFL Draft. The Broncos seem to be in full rebuild mode and are probably going to pull off a bunch of trades and roster moves to get the team back to a contender. The extra draft picks will give them more choices or will give them more pieces to move for a big trade target in the 2022 offseason.

The Rams got the pass-rusher they’ve needed to complete the defense which is going for a Super Bowl. They already have Aaron Donald, Jalen Ramsey, and Leonard Floyd, now they have one of the best pass rushers of the past decade on their team. This should help them keep pace in the NFC with the rest of the best teams in the NFL.
