With the signing of defensive tackle Jarran Reed, I have decided to predict the stats for the starting defensive lineman for the Chiefs for next season. The names I will be doing are Frank Clark, Jarran Reed, Chris Jones, Mike Danna and Taco Charlton. Im doing five players because as of now I believe Danna and Charlton will split reps at DE opposite of Clark. Here are my predictions:
Frank Clark: 10 TFL, 9 Sacks, 20 QB Hits, 35 Pressures, 37 Tackles.
You have to admit it Chiefs fans, Clark was a below-average player last year and his stats show it. However, I think he must’ve been playing through an injury or something and I see him bouncing back. With the signing of Jarran Reed, this makes Clark the No. 3 option and should allow him to thrive.
Chris Jones: 4 TFL, 11 Sacks, 30 QB Hits, 50 Pressures, 40 Tackles.
Jones had a monster year for the Chiefs last year, racking up 44 pressures and 28 QB hits, which both rank top five in all defensive linemen. I only expect him to get better after the Reed signing. Hopefully this takes some pressure off of him and he has yet another monster year and asserts himself as the best defensive tackle in the league outside of Aaron Donald.
Jarran Reed: 7 TFL, 8 Sacks, 20 QB Hits, 28 Pressures, 50 Tackles.
Reed had a solid year last season after the signing of Carlos Dunlap. Reed has shown signs of being elite but hasn’t really had the best chance to showcase it. Reed as the No. 1 option on the defensive line has struggled bad. However, as the second option, he has thrived and done very well. I expect him to pick it up and have another solid year behind Jones.
Taco Charlton: 5 TFL, 6 Sacks, 15 QB Hits, 20 Pressures, 37 Tackles.
The former first-round pick had a solid year for his snap share last season. This year, I think he and Danna will split reps so these stats will look good as a 50-percent guy. Charlton was a great guy to resign and bring back as he has all the potential in the world to be a great DE for the Chiefs.
Mike Danna: 14 TFL, 3 Sacks, 12 QB Hits, 20 Pressures, 45 Tackles.
Danna really was one of the most underrated draft picks and player for the Chiefs. Danna is a great run-stopper and an average pass rusher. I expect him to be in on run downs and excel there while Charlton plays on passing downs. Danna will be an excellent rotational player for the Chiefs for a long time.
