Chiefs beat Jets 35-9

Coming into Week 8, the Chiefs were massive favorites against the Jets, and they were able to cover behind 416 yards five touchdown passes from Patrick Mahomes. At the midway point of the 2020 campaign, the Chiefs are 7-1.

The Chiefs came out of the gates hot, going 90 yards on their first drive, culminating in a 30-yard touchdown pitch-pass to Mecole Hardman.

The Jets followed with a field goal, and the Chiefs immediately began to drive again. The drive stalled near midfield, but Andy Reid and Dave Toub drew up a fake punt for Tommy Townsend, who delivered a dot to Byron Pringle for the first.

Mahomes hit Tyreek Hill on the next play for a 36-yard TD strike.

Later in the half, we saw another underhand pitch from Mahomes, this time to Travis Kelce.

Demarcus Robinson got in on the offensive fun, catching a 26-yard TD in the third, followed by another Tyreek Hill deep ball to get the Chiefs up to 35.

Defensively, Tershawn Wharton came up with his first career sack, and Dirty Dan Sorensen came up with another timely play, forcing a fumble in the 3rd, which was promptly recovered by Bashaud Breeland.

With the win, the Chiefs improved to 7-1 and remain up near the top of the AFC standings, just behind the 7-0 Steelers. The Chiefs will return to Arrowhead next Sunday to take on the Carolina Panthers.

Le’Veon Bell was quiet in his first game versus his former team, totaling just seven yards on six carries and 31 yards through the air.
