Chiefs injury report for Raiders

The Kansas City Chiefs return key defensive pieces to be nearly a full send for Raiders week.

The most notable inactive for the Chiefs last week was defensive end Chris Jones with his groin injury. After a limited practice on Wednesday, Jones was a full participant in practice on Thursday and Friday, according to the Chiefs.

Jones’ return is notable, but not the only returner for the defensive unit. Cornerback Bashaud Breeland will return after serving his four-game suspension. The return of Breeland comes at a perfect time for the secondary, which has been nagging with injuries.

Cornerback L’Jarius Sneed broke his collarbone in Week 3 against the Baltimore Ravens. Prior to his injury, the rookie corner started hot, leading the NFL in interceptions with two through two games.

The Chiefs have continued to deal with secondary injuries, cornerback Alex Brown was placed on Injury Reserve after tearing his ACL in training camp.

Lastly for the Chiefs secondary, cornerback Charvarius Ward has played through a broken hand injury that required surgery last month. Ward has played in a cast since the injury occurred.

For those listed on the Chiefs injury report, defensive end Mike Danna was the only listed as out. Danna has not been able to practice this week, leading to his current status for the divisional matchup. Danna was placed on IR, meaning he will have to miss at least three games.

The Chiefs have not had any COVID-19 cases following their Monday night matchup with the New England Patriots. Concern grew once cornerback Stephon Gilmore tested positive after closely embracing quarterback Patrick Mahomes postgame.

Wide receivers Tyreek Hill and Mecole Hardman were both listed on the injury report. The Chiefs plan to have both young receivers suited up for Week 5.
