In a battle of NFL elites, the Chiefs dominated the Ravens, holding the Ravens high-powered offense to just 228 yards while putting up 517 of their own in a 34-20 win. Patrick Mahomes threw for 385 yards and four touchdowns.
Even with a few mistakes in the second half, the Chiefs were able to close the game out in the fourth quarter.
The Ravens started off hot, rushing for over 60 yards on their opening possession, and capping it off with a field goal to give them a early 3-0 lead.
Mahomes and the Chiefs immediately responded with not just one, but two straight touchdown drives, including a underhand pass to Anthony Sherman to open up a 13-3 lead.
Following Sherman’s touchdown was a rare special teams gaffe, allowing a 93-yard return TD on the ensuing kickoff.
Again, though, Mahomes and the Chiefs responded with two touchdowns, each deep balls, one to Tyreek Hill and the other to Mecole Hardman to make it 27-10.
In the second half, a Darwin Thompson fumble and a failed 4th down conversion let the Ravens get within seven, but once again Mahomes put the game away, this time with a pass to Eric Fisher (who else?).
This was a huge statement for the Chiefs, knocking off their biggest challenger on the road to move to 3-0.
With just one bye in the playoffs now, this game could go a long way in determining the playoff seeding come December.
