The Chiefs have suffered their first major injury of 2020, with Alex Brown tearing his ACL in camp. Brown confirmed his injury on Instagram.
Brown joined the Chiefs practice squad early last September and worked his way up to the 53-man roster in December.
Andy Reid took advantage of Brown’s athleticism even while he was on the practice squad, having him play Lamar Jackson in practice before the Ravens matchup last September.
After reaching the 53-man roster, Brown played in three regular season games and all three postseason games, mostly on special teams.
Entering his second season, Brown would have been a key depth piece for Steve Spagnuolo in the secondary. Now with Brown out for the year, as well as rookie BoPete Keyes and Antonio Hamilton missing practice and pending Bashaud Breeland discipline, the Chiefs could be thin at the cornerback position entering the first few weeks of the season.
We are now less than four weeks away from the season opener, set for September 10 versus the Texans.
