68 NFL players have decided to opt-out of the 2020 season, due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The New England Patriots had eight players opt-out, including defensive starters Dont’a Hightower and Patrick Chung. Guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif and running back Damien Williams from the Kansas City Chiefs also opted out. Williams decided not to play to protect his mother, who is in a cancer battle.
Some other notables to opt-out are New York Jets linebacker C.J. Mosley, and New York Giants left tackle Nate Solder.
Players had till 4 p.m ET Thursday to opt-out. But players can still opt-out after the deadline if they are ruled high risk to catch the coronavirus.
