Chiefs sign S Tedric Thompson

The Chiefs have added to their safety group, according to Terez Paylor.

Thompson was a fourth-round pick for Seattle in the 2017 draft. In three seasons, Thompson started 16 games, tallying three picks and five pass deflections.

Thompson was expected to be the replacement for Earl Thomas after Thomas signed with Baltimore, but was beat out by Quandre Diggs, and was placed on IR in October.

Thompson is the fifth safety on the Chiefs roster, joining Tyrann Mathieu, Daniel Sorensen, Juan Thornhill, and Armani Watts.

With Thornhill coming off of a ACL injury last season, Thompson could step into a depth role for the Chiefs in 2020.
