Chiefs offensive lineman Laurent Duvernay-Tardif has become the first NFL player to opt out of the 2020 NFL season.
Duvernay-Tardif spent time in the offseason on the frontlines (link) in Quebec and is the only NFL player with a medical degree.
According to Adam Schefter, he will only make $150,000 in 2020, instead of the $2.75 million he would have received had he played.
Instead of playing, he will continue working on the frontlines in Canada at a long-term care facility.
