Even in the midst of the NFL offseason, the rumor mill is always swirling.
In the latest round of rumors, Jamal Adams to the 49ers is “gaining steam.”
Adams recently requested a trade from the Jets and gave a list of teams he wished to be traded to.
In a recent report from Sports Illustrated’s Grant Cohn, a “well-placed source” says Adams to the Niners is “picking up steam.”
Adams, 24, was drafted sixth overall by the Jets in the 2017 NFL Draft. He has quickly emerged into a star, earning All Pro honors in 2019.
If the 49ers do trade for Adams, it would make the best defense in the NFL even better, and they would likely emerge as early NFC favorites to get back to the Super Bowl.
In addition to a potential trade, players also hinted at Dez Bryant potentially joining the team through Twitter last week.
Bryant was an All-Pro receiver in 2014 and amassed over 7,400 yards and 73 touchdowns in Dallas from 2010-2017. He most recently signed with the Saints in 2018 but tore his Achilles before seeing the field in game action.
San Francisco recently lost Emmanuel Sanders in free agency and Deebo Samuel broke his foot in mid-June, but also drafted Brandon Aiyuk out of Arizona State with the 25th overall pick in April.
If the 49ers front office feels Bryant could utilized, he could be a low-risk, high-reward pickup.
