Could the Chiefs trade for Malik Hooker?

With Tyrann Mathieu, Daniel Sorensen, and Juan Thornhill, the Chiefs have plenty of talent at the safety position.

With Thornhill rehabbing an ACL injury, the Chiefs could potentially look to add a cheap, high-upside player for depth, similar to the Taco Charlton pickup.

Malik Hooker was a first-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, but has yet to live up first round expectations. He has shown playmaking ability, however, tallying 11 pass breakups and seven interceptions in 34 career games.

Hooker only carries a cap hit of $4 million for 2020, meaning the Chiefs could take on his contract despite little cap space. The Colts declined his fifth-year option, making him a free agent for 2021 and beyond.

Teams have been calling the Colts about Hooker, and the Colts could look to get some value out of a move.

Hooker could be a solid addition to a Chiefs defense that looks to improve during a second season under Steve Spagnuolo.
