Rumor: Chiefs could trade up for WR Henry Ruggs III if he falls

The Chiefs could look to add another member to the Legion of Zoom if the draft board shakes up a certain way.

According to Peter King of NBC Sports, the Chiefs want to trade up for Henry Ruggs III if he falls into the 20s.

Ruggs is one of the top wide receivers in this year’s class, and his big-play ability makes him a very intriguing prospect and potential fit in the Kansas City offense. King also noted that coach Andy Reid “loves Ruggs.”

Ruggs would join speedsters Tyreek Hill and Mecole Hardman, as well as Sammy Watkins and Demarcus Robinson in the high-flying offense led by Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes.

Ruggs would also provide some stability at the position, with both Watkins and Robinson scheduled to hit free agency after 2020.

Any trade up for the Chiefs would be interesting, as the Chiefs only have five picks in the draft. GM Brett Veach would have to get creative to mold a package to move up while not sacrificing the rest of the draft.

Keep an eye out for a potential move if Ruggs drops into the late teens or early 20s. The NFL Draft is now just three days away.
