NFL lays out dead period rules for players

NFL players received an email outlining what is and isn’t allowed during this unprecedented dead time.

Most notable is the fact that players cannot participate in club supervised activities virtually. So while many front offices are preparing for a fully virtual draft, they will not have to worry about virtual team activities, at least for the time being.

Coaches and team officials can send players pre-recorded videos containing coaching instructions and diagrams, but no live meetings can take place.

Another notable aspect is that teams cannot punish or reward players for watching and using such video. It is completely voluntary from the players standpoint.

Brooke Pryor also noted on her twitter that the league and the NFLPA have not determined how off-season bonuses will be paid out if off-season workouts are missed.

As we move closer to summer, the NFL will continue to monitor health officials recommendations and adjust from there.
