Hi, what are you looking for?

Draft Week: Chiefs Mock Draft 4.0 (with trades)

We are officially one day away from the 2020 NFL draft. Rob Gronkowski is back in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Percy Harvin is trying to make a comeback, and the Chiefs are rumored to possibly want to trade up into the 20’s if Henry Ruggs falls. What a time to be alive.

Yesterday we did mock 3.0 that featured a possible trade down with the New York Giants. What is today’s mock gonna feature? Well, let’s find out!

Round 2

Pick 47: Clyde Edwards-Helaire, RB, LSU

The Chiefs back all the way to midway through the second round. However, they are able to add another pick in the top 100. With the 47th pick they select running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire out of LSU. He is the ultimate scheme fit for the Chiefs. He is a great route runner and comes from an LSU run attack that featured a lot of zone schemes.

*The Chiefs traded pick 32 to the Atlanta Falcons for picks 47 and 78

Round 3

Pick 63: Amik Robertson, CB, Louisiana Tech

Robertson is not big, but he plays big. He grew up idolizing Tyrann Mathieu and his game shows. Robertson is always around the ball and filled up the stat sheet at Louisiana Tech. His ability to play man or zone makes him a great fit in the Chiefs defense where he could be featured in the slot.

Pick 78: Robert Hunt, IOL, Louisiana

The Chiefs met with Hunt for one of their pre-draft meetings and I wrote a little more about him in Mock 3.0.

Pick 96: Van Jefferson, WR, Florida

Jefferson is not an athletic standout, but what he lacks in athleticism he makes up with in route running. He is an absolute technician and one of the best route runners in this year’s draft. Jefferson would fit in a roll that finds him primarily in the slot where he can use his ability to get open.

Round 4

Pick 138: Jason Stowbridge, DL, North Carolina

Stowbridge is a power end that is great against the run. He would be able to be used on early downs against the run and then kick inside on passing downs. He would be a nice rotational lineman along the defensive front.

Round 5

Pick 177: Mykal Walker, LB, Fresno State

Walker is an interesting prospect and the Chiefs have also met with him in their pre-draft meetings. He played multiple rolls inside the box at Fresno St. and his versatility with that makes him an interesting piece along the front.

The Chiefs are going to have a multitude of options sitting at pick 32. Trading down, as they have here, is certainly one of them. We are only a day away, so we will find out what Brett Veach and company has in store soon enough!
