Chiefs beat Saints 32-29, improve to 13-1

The Chiefs inch closer to the number one seed in the AFC, topping the New Orleans Saints on the road 32-29 to improve to 13-1. Kansas City finishes a perfect 8-0 on the road.

The highly anticipated matchup lived up to the hype. Kansas City jumped out to a 14-0 lead, picking off Drew Brees and capitalizing in the red zone thanks to some creative play calls near the goal line.

Tyreek Hill found the end zone first, followed by Travis Kelce on a quick shovel pass. Hill’s touchdown was his 15th of the season, tying Dwayne Bowe’s franchise record that he set back in 2010.

The game got weird as it neared halftime, as Stefen Wisniewski had a reception that got called back and Demarcus Robinson made a terrible decision to field a punt as time wound time, resulting in a Saints safety. Really, though, it should have been six, as multiple Saints couldn’t grab the ball before it bounced out of the back of the end zone.

The Saints grabbed the lead in the third, but Mahomes led the offense back inside the 10, where Mahomes found Hardman on a beautiful ball in the back corner, which Hardman was able to pull in.

A few drives later, Kansas City scored another, as Mahomes pitched to Bell, who had room down the sideline.

The Saints were 10-3 for a reason, and they made it close in the end, but as we have seen time and time again this season, the Chiefs finished when they needed to and tied the franchise record for wins in a season at 13.

If the Bengals upset the Steelers tomorrow night, the Chiefs could clinch the top seed next Sunday versus the Falcons.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire went down with an awkward injury late, and we will await word on an update from the team sometime in the coming days.
