Chiefs beat Broncos 43-16

The Chiefs played well in all three phases, forcing four turnovers and scoring on a kickoff-return TD in a 43-16 beatdown of the Denver Broncos. This was the Chiefs’ 10th straight victory versus the Broncos.

Clyde got it going early, scoring on an 11-yard run, breaking multiple tackles on his way to six.

The Broncos got six after a Nick Keizer fumble, then the Chiefs got a field goal to make it 10-6. A few possessions later, Daniel Sorensen got his third pick-six of his career, cutting in front of a Drew Lock pass at midfield.

After a Denver field goal, the Chiefs special teams unit got in on the fun, with Byron Pringle taking a kickoff 101 yards to the house.

The defense dominated from that point out, forcing four turnovers in total, and only allowing a garbage-time TD later in the game.

Tyrann Mathieu had an interception, Charvarius Ward recorded a sack, and UDFA Tershawn Wharton forced a fumble in the second quarter.

Late in the fourth, backup QB Chad Henne even got in the endzone, his first TD since 2014, and his first rushing TD since 2012.

Despite the dominant scoreline, Patrick Mahomes had a pretty pedestrian game, going 15-23 for 200 yards and a touchdown. The fact that the Chiefs were able to build a sizable lead and assert their will without needing Mahomes to be a world-beater is a sign of how complete these Chiefs are.

In his Kansas City debut, Le’Veon Bell carried the ball six times for 39 yards. Expect him to have a big week next Sunday against the Jets, his former team who released him on the 13th.

With the Raiders loss, the 6-1 Chiefs now have a 2.5 game lead in the AFC West.
