Chiefs beat Broncos 22-16, clinch playoff berth

It wasn’t pretty, but the Chiefs eeked out a 22-16 victory over the Denver Broncos, improving to 11-1 and clinching a spot in the playoffs for the sixth consecutive season, tying the franchise record from 1990-95. The Chiefs are now on the verge of their fifth straight AFC West title.

Kansas City did not play their best game offensively, only scoring one tocuhdown. Tyreek Hill had two, but neither stood, as one was taken ruled incomplete and was not challenged, and the other was called back for a holding penalty.

The offense struggled inside the red zone, settling for field goals on the first four possessions that went inside the 20.

The Chiefs finally found the end zone when Mahomes hit Kelce to give the Chiefs a 19-16 lead.

Tyrann Mathieu’s second interception of the game later sealed the game with under a minute to go.

Again, it wasn’t pretty, but the Chiefs are 11-1. They could have clinched the AFC West with a Raider loss as well today, but the Jets decided to blitz eight in a hail mary scenario for who knows why.

Moving on, the Chiefs travel to Miami, who won over Cincinnati today, 19-7. A win over Miami or a Vegas loss to Indianapolis would seal the AFC West for Kansas City.

As for the AFC as a whole, the Chiefs again keep pace with Pittsburgh, who play Washington tomorrow at 4 p.m. CT. Maybe Alex Smith can pull off an upset for his old squad?
