5 current Chiefs who MUST finish career in KC

Legends of a franchise usually retire with the said franchise. Let’s look at the good amount of Chiefs players that fit that dilemma.

There are many legendary franchise players that have stayed with the teams they were drafted by or been with the longest. A prominent example of this would be Eli Manning as after he was traded to the Giants, he has won two Super Bowl’s for them against the Patriots. Another example would be Drew Brees as after he signed with the Saints after being with the Chargers for three years, he has won the Saints a Super Bowl and has established himself as one of the best QBs to lace up their cleats in the league. Eli has since then retired as a Giant and Brees will definitely retire as a Saint. With that said, here are five Chiefs’ players that must finish their playing career in Kansas City.

1. Patrick Mahomes

For Mahomes, it’s a no-brainer for him to stay with the Chiefs for the entirety of his career. He’s made the Chiefs one of the biggest teams in the league, has brought the Chiefs their first Super Bowl since 1970, the first Chief to win the MVP, and so much more! The amount of achievements he has brought this is city is paramount on why he’ll stay in Kansas City for the rest of his career. Plus, he will be receiving a lucrative contract somewhere down the line and that will give him a greater incentive to stay.

2. Tyreek Hill

For being one of the best Chiefs receivers in recent history, Hill is another player that must retire with them. Hill is another fan favorite due to his nickname “cheetah” and for his organization that provides life-skills and education for single-parent families and kids. Also, Hill has a shot to pass Otis Taylor in the most receiving yards in Chiefs history for a receiver if he continues to play with KC, which could make the case for him to be the greatest Chiefs receiver in history. The #10 will always strike fear into the hearts of corners and safeties until the cheetah decides to hang up his cleats.

3. Travis Kelce

Kelce is another mention on this list as he is recognized as one of the best tight ends TEs in the league and the second-best TE in Chiefs history. He’s even well-loved by the fans/city as he has been dubbed the nickname “Zeus” by them. This is largely due to how much of a receiving threat he is and by his famous celebration dubbed “Fist of Zeus”. I wouldn’t be surprised if he played here for his entire career as he is one of my favorite Chiefs players.

4. Chris Jones

Even with all of the controversy surrounding his contract, it’d be the icing on the cake for him to retire in Kansas City. This is largely due to the fact that he’s has made a name for himself on this team. From his clutch plays in the Super Bowl to his unstoppable 2018 season, he will be recognized as an unstoppable force for the rest of Chiefs’ history. If he leaves for another team, he should end his career with the team that developed him into a star. It would be glorious to see, but sadly it’ll take a little while for that to even have a chance at happening.

5. Tyrann Mathieu

To top/end off this list, the Honey Badger should end his career here in Kansas City. In his first year as a Chief, he has undoubtedly shown the amount of skill that has been locked ever since his first snap. He has recorded 75 combined tackles, 2 sacks, 4 interceptions, and an all-pro honor in his first year with the Chiefs. He will definitely be a cornerstone on the defense for years to come and I wouldn’t be surprised if the Chiefs resigned him after his contract is up. The Chiefs Kingdom will always have your back, Mathieu and we hope you continue to have substantial seasons like this past one!

In summary, these are the five current Chiefs’ players that must retire in Kansas City. I hope all of these players have long/luxurious careers here and hopefully they could win a few more rings. Thanks for reading and have an amazing day!
